In the event that there is someone out there reading this who didn’t get here from my Facebook wall.
I’m Lia, and I really like to write. Last semester, in my ‘sophomore spring’, I enrolled in a writing seminar that encouraged me to put pen to paper (or more accurately, finger to keyboard) on a regular basis. This course required me to be reflective and intentional in my work, going back to pieces a number of times before eventually submitting a ‘final’ draft. The part of this course that pushed me the furthest out of my comfort zone was the final step of each assignment: sharing my final draft on social media.
At the end of the semester, I wrote a reflective piece for another course. Almost by force of habit, I felt compelled to share that piece with my social network. I did, and I got an incredibly supportive and positive response. This was months ago, and it has taken me long enough to make the decision to take the plunge into the world of personal blogging. I plan to blog about a number of things, including:
- Academic reflections
- Personal experiences
- Free writes
- My mother (my forever muse)
- What I’m reading
Above all, I want to write about things that matter. No matter the scale. Whether it’s the best part of my day, or what I think is the worst part of society. If it matters, it’s fair game.
52 weeks from now, I hope to look at this blog and find it filled with special milestones. I hope I’ve written about things both magical and mundane. I hope to see growth.
